Getting started: set up Back to Zero in 5 minutes

In five minutes your team can be getting its sales scoreboard. This guide walks through the full setup: the account, the setup wizard, the first sale and inviting your team.
1. Create your account
Sign up with your email or with your Google or Microsoft account. Choose whether it's for your company or for you ("For me": if you sell on your own, you're your own company). Your country suggests the language, currency and time zone. The Free plan works for 1 or 2 people and doesn't ask for a card.
You'll get an email to confirm your address; you need to confirm it before inviting your team.
2. The 6-step wizard
- Company: confirm the name, language, currency and time zone.
- Categories: group your sales by product or service line. Each category has its own counter; pick the suggested ones or write your own.
- Goal: enter the monthly recurring revenue goal. If you're not sure, see how to set the goal.
- Team: invite people with their role (table below). Each one gets an email invitation.
- Daily email: choose the days and time of the morning email.
- Last sale: log your most recent sale so the counter starts with real data.
The roles
| Role | What they do |
|---|---|
| Admin | Sets up the account, goal, team and billing. |
| Sales rep | Sells; has their own counter and share of the goal. |
| Back office | Logs sales (and gets the afternoon reminder). |
| Stakeholder | View only: leadership, partners or anyone who should stay informed. |
3. Log your sales
Each sale includes:
- Date: it can be in the past, back to January 1 of the year you signed up, so you can log the whole year's sales;
- Amount before tax;
- Type: recurring (with its monthly amount) or one-time; if in doubt, read recurring vs. one-time;
- Category and client: if the client isn't in your catalog, it's added and you're asked whether it's their first purchase;
- Who took part and with what percentage (shared sales reset everyone).
Saving triggers confetti 🎉: there's no such thing as a small sale.
4. Turn off test mode
At first the daily email only reaches admins, with "[TEST]" in the subject, so you can see how it looks. Once your team is set up, turn it off in Settings.
5. Security and your data
- Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) with an authenticator app; admins can require it for the whole team.
- Nobody from support can access your account without your permission, which you grant for 24 hours and which is recorded in your activity log.
- You can export your sales, clients and goals at any time.
Next step
Tomorrow, at the time you chose, the first scoreboard will arrive. To get the most out of it, pair it with one of the ways to motivate your sales team.
